Saturday, May 9 welcomes The Queen Mary’s 4th annual West Coast BBQ Classic (WCBC) presenting over 60 different Southern California based champion grill masters and BBQ teams competing for the coveted title of West Coast’s BEST BBQ and $10,500 in cash prizes.
The WCBC welcomes both barbecue masters and amateur grill enthusiasts to participate in the competition that will leave festivalgoers’ taste buds filled with the west’s best sweet and smoky BBQ flavors. The BBQ competition is California-State-Certified and KCBS-Sanctioned and highlights various grill styles from across the nation including slow-cooked hickory Texan and southern Memphis-style barbecue.
The public will have an opportunity at the event to vote for their favorite BBQ team to win the People’s Choice Award for Best BBQ. Some of the local BBQ competitors include the likes of favorite BBQ stops spanning Costa Mesa’s Twisted Brisket, Diamond Bar’s Slap Yo’ Daddy BBQ, Riverside’s The Rib Doctor, Los Angeles’ Jet Coatings Monkey Style, Vista’s South Coast BBQ, Menifee’s Rooftop BBQ and Long Beach’s own Triple T’s.
“The West Coast BBQ Classic has become one of our signature events and truly showcases the best BBQ in the region,” commented Steve Sheldon, The Queen Mary’s Director of Entertainment Events. “It’s great to see some of the BBQ stars return to our competition year after year and also have the opportunity to try some amazing amateur grillers’ meats before they become champions.”
The festival offers barbecue aficionados and foodie fans something to salivate over with delicious BBQ tastings for only $2 each, live music from artists River Road and Pawnshop Kings, backyard games, the BBQ merchant market and an awards ceremony for the victors. Children are invited to enjoy the Kids Country featuring inflatables, children’s activities and more fun.
The West Coast BBQ Classic, proudly serving Farmer John products, will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9.
